History

UNIBA's history began with the founding of Universitas Islam Kyai Mojo Surakarta (UIM) by Decree of the Kyai Mojo Surakarta Islamic Higher Education Foundation (as the Higher Education Organising Body, Number: 1/Yapertim/VII/ 1983, dated 30 July 1983). The decree was confirmed by Notarial Deed No. 225/U dated 25 July 1983.

Universitas Islam Kyai Mojo Surakarta (UIM) was an upgrade of the Batik Surakarta Academy of Accounting and Management (AAM), by Decree of Kopertis Region VI Semarang Number: 1137/K/14.39/ Kop.VI/1983, dated 26 July 1983. UIM obtained establishment and operating permits for 3 faculties: the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Economics, and the Faculty of Agriculture.

The UIM Faculty of Law obtained REGISTERED status by Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 0618/0/1984 dated 29 November 1984, for the faculty and its departments: Civil Law, Criminal Law, and Constitutional Law.

By Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 0389/0/1986 dated 22 May 1986, the levels, education programmes, and duration of the registered units, faculties, departments, and study programmes of UIM Surakarta were re-established as a private university within Kopertis Region VI Semarang. The Faculty of Law at UIM Surakarta consisted of:

                                     b. Criminal Law (S1)

                                     c. Constitutional Law (S1)

By Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 0161/0/1989 dated 28 March 1989, UIM Surakarta was renamed Universitas Islam Batik (UNIBA) Surakarta, at Jl. KH. Agus Salim No. 10 Surakarta, Tel. 714751.

Subsequently, by Decree of the Director General of Higher Education Number: 266/DIKTI/Kep/1992 dated 5 June 1992, the Faculty of Law's Law Study Programme (S1) was raised from Registered to Recognised status. The accreditation history of the Faculty of Law's Law Study Programme is as follows:
